Why IV when I can take these vitamins by mouth?
Physiologically we have a digestive system that processes everything that goes into our stomach, when taking vitamins by mouth our stomach breaks them down and sends them into our small intestines where the vitamins are processed. When the vitamins get ready for delivery our cells tell the digestive system that they have enough vitamins and don’t need any more through a negative feedback mechanism. The small intestine than takes those excess vitamins and sends them to the kidneys and large intestines to process them as waste.
When the vitamins are given intravenously, they are directly introduced to our blood stream where our cells get nourished through diffusion. The cells don’t have a choice at this time and must accept whatever is given to them leading to rapid rises of blood concentrations of the vitamins. Once that happens the cells absorb them and use them for defense, collagen buildup and boosting your overall health. The cells are not connected to the digestive tract so they can’t send the excess vitamins out as waste and must use up the vitamins that are introduced to them.

Drip infusion
This method uses gravity to deliver a constant amount of medication over a set period. With a drip, the medication and solution drip from a bag through a tube and into your catheter.
IV push
An IV “push” or “bolus” is a rapid injection of medication. A syringe is inserted into your catheter to send a one-time dose of drug into your bloodstream quickly
Pump infusion
In the United States, a pump infusion is the most common method used. The pump is attached to your IV line and sends medication and a solution, such as sterile saline, into your catheter in a slow, steady manner. Pumps may be used when the medication dosage must be precise and controlled.
IV infusion
An IV infusion is a controlled administration of medication into your bloodstream over time. The two primary methods of IV infusion use either gravity or a pump to send medicines into your catheter:
